Detailed Information

About School:

The Lawrence School – Sanawar, established in 1847 and located at a height of 1750 meters on 139 acres of heavily forested land with pine, deodar, and other conifer trees, is the result of Sir Henry Lawrence’s and his wife Honoria’s vision. Sanawar is a CBSE-affiliated co-educational boarding school with students from all over the subcontinent. It creates an atmosphere that allows students to think critically and provides them with many opportunities to share their imagination and develop their skills.

Admission Process:

Admission procedure Both boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 16 are welcome to attend the School, regardless of their social class, faith, or nationality. Children requesting admission into Classes V (approximately 20 girls and 45 boys), VI (approximately 05 girls and 10 boys), and VII (approximately 10 girls and 15 boys) must be enrolled by the 31st of October. Admission to classes V, VI, and VII are focused on the outcome of an entrance test conducted in November of the previous year, followed by a personal interview. On the basis of the written test results, a merit list is established. Students are called to the School for personal interaction with the Headmaster based on the number of girls/boys to be admitted.

Key Information:

Infrastructure Sanawar has developed over 139 acres on a rural hilltop at 5,600 feet, forested with pine and evergreens, and is now a historical landmark in its own right. The estate is a veritable wonderland of rambling roads, vines, flowers, and native birdlife, with its distinctive red roofs visible for miles in all directions. On a bright morning, the panoramic view of the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas can be seen to the north, while rolling hills lead down to the plains to the south. Sanawarian’s desires are focused within this idyllic climate, away from the distractions of city life. The guest can see a combination of colonial houses, many of which are over a century old, nestled alongside more recent amenities that have been added to improve both the school’s functional needs and the current physical landscape. The 149-year-old School Chapel, with its beautiful stained-glass windows, is one of the oldest structures.
