Sainik School Kazhakootam

In the year, 1962 the first Defence Minister of India, V.K. Menon, initiated the idea of the Sainik School, intending to provide training to the youth of the country and develop a will in them to join the National Defence Academy. Thus the Sainik School Kazhakootam was formed in Kerala under the guidance and management of the Defence Ministry of India. The sole aim of this school is to impart knowledge, discipline, and qualities of leadership to the young boys of the country. This school has a motto of serving society and our country by making responsible citizens in the form of their students. At present, the school has a campus area of more than 225 acres. The school follows the CBSE curriculum and offers education from class 6th to 12th. The school has all modern-day educational facilities like 20 classrooms with internet and TV monitor boards, laboratories, a library, science park, IT lab, and seminar halls, and many more top-class facilities for the physical and mental development of the cadet. The swimming pool, gymnasium, and obstacle course are made available to the cadets to maintain their physique and fitness. The Sainik School has developed a world and environment which follows its own rules and values that imparts value-based education to their scholars and helps them grow in every aspect of life.

Admissions are offered to class 6th and class 11th students only. An entrance exam, All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE) has to be cleared by the student for taking admission. The exam is followed by an interview round and a medical test too. The entrance exam is held in Jan every year.
