RiverDale International School, Pune, is a co-educational boarding school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), New Delhi. The school was established Under the leadership of Farhang Azar, with a vision to “create an environment to foster personal growth and the development of the individual capacity and transform society through service”. Offering the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) curriculum for grades IX and X and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) curriculum for grades XI and XII. Along with academics, programs such as student mentoring, career counselling, value education, staff development, student leadership, and parent participation are also offered. Science and commerce streams are offered for both ICSE and ISC curricula. School Campus Spread over 50 acres, the school offers facilities for equestrian horse riding, swimming, and a 9-ball pool, among other sports, besides weekend clubs and art and music education. The premises are equipped with a music studio, an art room, and a gymnasium. State-of-the-art math, science, and computer laboratories, modern teaching aids, a well-stocked library, and an infirmary are all part of RIS facility offerings, apart from spacious dormitories, dining halls, an auditorium, and a tuck shop. Classrooms Classrooms are spacious, well-lit, and well-ventilated. The interactive smart-class system is equipped in all classrooms, ensuring that students have access to a wide range of learning tools and audio-visual aids. The maximum number of students accommodated in a classroom rarely exceeds 25, allowing teachers to provide personalized attention to each of them. Aside from the storage space required for taking care of their belongings in the classroom, each student is assigned an individual desk as well as a separate locker, providing adequate space and comfort. Students are regularly engaged in activities that involve decorating their classrooms and displaying their projects, charts, flyers, and other creative work. Dormitories Dormitories are places to unwind, rest, socialize, and study. The architecture of the buildings contributes to the creation of an ideal environment for comfortable and harmonious living. RiverDale has five dormitories, each named after a different virtue: Fellowship, Harmony, Peace, Unity, and Wisdom. They are spread out across campus, with adequate space between dormitories for girls and boys, as well as seniors and juniors. Each dormitory has a resident dorm parent, creating a family-like environment with 24-hour supervision and guidance. Every dorm has two common rooms for recreational activities such as snooker, table tennis, carom, and television. Dining Hall RiverDale adheres to the best practices and facilities available to ensure the health and well-being of our employees and students. Three balanced, nutritious, and delicious meals are served each day, with plenty of snacks in between at regular intervals. A well-lit, air-conditioned dining hall ensures that students are comfortable while eating. Except on Thursday, non-vegetarian meals such as chicken, mutton, fish (any kind), and eggs are available. Depending on availability, seasonal fruits are served with lunch. Every week, students also enjoy ice cream. Separate preparation and serving counters for vegetarian and non-vegetarian food ensure that everyone’s traditions are upheld. Sporting Facilities RiverDale has excellent sports facilities, including separate playgrounds for various sports disciplines. Among the sporting facilities available to students is a well-kept full-size cricket ground with a mini-stadium and separate covered/uncovered net-practice areas, two football fields, two swimming pools, one for boys and one for girls, two standard tennis courts, two basketball courts, a volleyball court, a well-equipped modern gymnasium, and a multi-purpose enclosed hard-court with floodlights. Indoor sports like table tennis, badminton, and snooker/pool are available in the multi-purpose hall and dormitories. Library The school has a well-stocked and spacious library that is open during and after school hours. The school’s library and educational magazines are constantly updated to meet the needs of today’s students and to provide them with more than enough information to satisfy their curiosity. The library’s design and layout ensure a comfortable setting, while its central location ensures ease of use. Students are encouraged to frequent the library and read books. A full-time trained librarian ensures that discipline is maintained and that noise levels are kept to a minimum. Tuck Shop The school’s Tuck Shop is a popular hangout for students! During the weekends, the Tuck Shop allows students to indulge in some of their favourite treats. Students only use coupons because cash is not permitted for any student transaction on campus. Students frequently suggest items of their choice, which the Tuck Shop tries to supply on occasion. Increasingly noticeable such as McDonald’s burgers and Pizza Hut pizzas are also frequently found in the tuck shop. Laboratories RiverDale has well-equipped and separate laboratories for IT, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. These cutting-edge laboratories are kept to the highest standards, allowing children to engage in self-discovery and experimentation as part of their classroom-based academic work. The school’s laboratories are outfitted with a wide range of instruments that not only meet students’ learning needs as per the board’s requirements but also allow them to go beyond their syllabus for more practical exposure. Multi-Purpose Hall A spacious, multi-purpose auditorium serves as a venue for a variety of activities and events. It is one of the busiest areas on campus, with constant activity throughout the day. The auditorium is where the school staff and students gather for daily morning assembly and other functions. It also serves as a multi-purpose hall for after-hours sports activities, such as badminton and table tennis, as well as movies and other entertainment programs on specific days to help students unwind. The hall also provides an examination center for conducting year-end Board examinations as Riverdale is selected as a center for conducting the annual ICSE and ISC examinations. Elementary Section RiverDale’s Elementary Section children (grades 2-7) are housed in a separate building to streamline the academic curriculum and other activities. Furthermore, junior students do not feel pressured by their seniors to “grow up” socially. The Elementary Section’s utility and charm are enhanced by an art studio, music lab, reading area, and audio-visual room. Our students are encouraged to display their artistic abilities by decorating the classrooms and corridors with posters and charts of their favorite motivational posts and course content. A full-time Elementary School Coordinator ensures that the junior section runs smoothly. Amphitheatre The open-air amphitheater at Riverdale embodies the outdoor spirit that boarding school life truly represents. Its aesthetically pleasing design, combined with ample seating capacity and central location, makes it a popular outdoor gathering spot. During the winter, the Amphitheatre hosts a variety of activities and events, such as open-air assemblies, flag hoisting on Independence Day, dorm nights, outdoor classes, and drawing competitions.
