Rashtriya Military School was established in the year 1952. It was known as the King George’s Royal Indian Military School. Previously, it was known as Public School Lines as they started giving admission to the Defense Service Officers and to the civilians.
It became the member of Indian Public Schools Conference (IPSC) in the year 1954. It was then named as Military School in the year 1966. On 25th June 2007, it got its final name as Rashtriya Military School.
They are administered by the Directorate General of Military Training at IHQ of MOD (Army). The school is governed by the Central Governing Council (CGC) which is headed by the Defence Secretary, Ministry of Defence which is an apex body for these schools.
